The University of Texas Tyler School of Medicine and UT Health
East Texas is searching for a Founding Chair of the Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of Women s Services. The
Department Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology will be responsible
for all realms of clinical, administration, teaching, research and
strategy as it relates to the growth of the Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology.
This inspirational leader manages the policy creation and
enforcement and recruitment and retention of faculty, while
spearheading the advancement of the Women s Health service line
across UT Health East Texas.
Required Knowledge, Education, Skills, Abilities and
Competencies:
From its beginnings as a hospital during World War II, The
University of Texas Health Center at Tyler, joining the
world-renowned University of Texas System, has an expanded mission
that today includes patient care and community health, medical and
health education, and biomedical and clinical research. The Center
is home to a three-story, $67-million Academic Center housing a
cancer treatment and prevention center with some of the most
advanced technology available. Over the years, the academic center
has added a family practice, rural family medicine, psychiatry,
occupational medicine, and internal medicine residency programs.
And the growth continues - with the addition of the UT Tyler School
of Medicine, which opened its doors in 2023.
