TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Denison, Texas, 75020 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Critical Care Stepdown Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; must work at least one weekend shift per week Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours Experience: 2 years of Critical Care Stepdown experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: NIHSS, BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Experience with vasoactive drips, trach vents, DKA, insulin drips, etc. - Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program - Success in passing pre-employment assessments as required Job Description: - Perform comprehensive body system assessments promptly and accurately, including pain assessment. - Determine patient and family educational needs and expectations of hospitalization. - Integrate clinical indicators (labs, radiology, vital signs) into SBAR hand-off reports. - Assess the biological, psychological, physical, and cultural needs of patients and families. - Recognize and provide ongoing assessment of any changes in patient condition. - Collaborate with all disciplines to address assessed needs of assigned patients. - Maintain visibility within the unit; keep the Clinical Supervisor informed of location. - Ask for help when necessary and engage in unit-based problem-solving. - Attend at least 75% of all staff meetings. - Oversee and assign tasks to direct reports within their scope of practice. - Assist direct reports with problem-solving. - Demonstrate autonomy in communication with physicians and physician assistants. - Contribute to a healthy and supportive work environment. - Communicate effectively with staff. - Monitor, recognize, and report abnormal test results. - Provide health education and procedural information to patients and families. - Follow the chain of command and advocate for patients within legal and ethical frameworks. - Document patient views on healthcare and lifestyle changes willingness. - Implement individual interventions from the plan of care. - Identify post-hospital care possibilities from external agencies. - Develop and update the plan of care based on the assessed needs of the patient and family. - Ensure a clean and prepared workspace for anticipated activities. - Perform audits/tracers to show minimal documentation errors. - Serve as a resource and preceptor to students and new hires. - Maintain proper hygiene practices and use gloves when necessary to avoid contamination. - Ensure accurate and timely patient care documentation for transfers. - Demonstrate proficiency in using special equipment like monitors, infusion pumps, or oxygen equipment. - Exhibit compliance with quality measures in clinical practices. - Prioritize care effectively to manage time efficiently for patient care needs.
