About the Role:

As a CBRE Employee Relations Investigator, you will take the lead in the end-to-end investigative process, including planning, interviews, e-discovery, documentation review, and report writing where concerns have been raised by employees or external parties to ensure that CBRE's environment is reflective of our RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence). Investigations include sensitive and challenging allegations such as general misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. In addition, the Employee Relations Investigator will recommend appropriate resolution of all allegations and findings and communicates outcomes with critical stakeholders and in other forums when corrective action may be under review. This is a critical role for the business.

Investigators may support multiple regions, multiple lines of business and/or department heads.

This job is part of the People Strategy and Operations function. They are responsible for the design, execution, and monitoring of human resource programs and policies. It also partners with the Trust & Investigations team, which provides neutral, unbiased, thorough and efficient investigations into reports of serious misconduct and/or policy violations. The team is responsible for proactively identifying potential areas of exposure within the company and provides advice to senior management and stakeholders. The department ensures that an objective review is taken of allegations. The Trust & Investigations team takes pride in ensuring employees who raise concerns feel their concerns were treated seriously, looked into objectively and concluded fairly.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage all employee relations and compliance policies, programs, and practices to achieve a positive and productive work environment.
  • Conduct formal intake, analyzes the allegation(s), develops an investigation plan and conducts the investigation. Gathers, processes and maintains evidence to document and load for historical reference.
  • Complete written reports and communicates appropriate summaries of investigation outcomes to relevant parties. Duties include interviewing complainant(s), witness(es), and subject(s); and consulting with appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Maintain accurate and thorough intake, interview notes, and documentation of all investigation action(s), file(s) and record(s) in the CBRE's electronic case management system(s) and in accordance with the policy and investigation procedures.
  • Examine allegations holistically and, where necessary, delve deeply into cases to ensure that root causes are determined and addressed.
  • Proactively engage with cross-functional partners (e.g. Compliance & Ethics, People/HR Business Partners, Fraud, Corporate Security, etc.) and key stakeholders across the enterprise to complete investigations. Understanding when and how these matters are escalated to stakeholders is critical.
  • Articulate and defend the findings at the end of the investigatory process.
  • Advise on corrective and preventative measures based on root cause analyses from investigations, such as risk-based business enhancements, mitigation strategies, training and disciplinary action. Prepares presentations for and presents findings/recommendations to Leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to general employment matters and equal opportunity.
  • Partner with other HR team members, the Legal and Compliance Department, and other people in the company to make sure that the workplace is a good place to be.

    • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional level experience within employee relations, compliance, accounting, or experience conducting fraud/financial investigations and/or grievance procedures (informal and formal) in a large complex organization.
    • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
    • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
    • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
    • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
